Several hot lunch detractors have said this page is insulting. In fact, this page overstates the school district's nutritional position in two respects. The first is only elementary school children who don't bring a lunch get peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at school. Middle school and high school students get nothing. The second is the district does not even provide the ingredients for the elementary schools. The lunch ladies in the elementary schools take their own initiative to go to Peter's Pantry. These ladies and Peter's Panty are the unsung heroes of Manitowoc's fight against child hunger.
